Flyer Printing | Three Common Flyer Printing Mistakes

There are few things that are more frustrating than printing out thousands of flyers and their coming back with an error. There are three common mistakes that people make when ordering their flyers and it's not always the printing company’s fault, so make sure you always get a proof if you can. Below are a few of the most common problems and how to avoid them.

#1 Bleeds

could have a catastrophic outcomes for your flyers. This will cause the design to have misaligned text, unprinted edges, or even part of the design cut off. This isn't usually your printer’s fault and can easily be avoided. Make sure your flyer has at least 1/8" bleed on all sides before you send the design to your printer. This lets the printing company print your design without running the risk of cutting off part of your design.

Note: Some printers require different bleed size. Be sure to check with them before submitting your files.

#2 Fonts

Not embedding fonts is another very common problem that is easily avoidable. you have a cool and unique font that you’re using for your flyers, chances are the printing company doesn't have that font. So when they open the file the computer will automatically convert that font into something else. Be sure to embed your fonts.

#3 Black

One of the most common complaints that comes from customers who are not experienced with printing is printing with black. When you use just black, the final color will look like a dull grayish black. When you want a very deep vibrant black use a "Rich Black". Talk to your printing company about what color levels they recommend to create your desired effect. Also remember not to use a Rich Black with fonts below a certain size. Consult with your printing company for their recommendation. Some programs automatically convert text to Rich Black. Please be sure to double check your proofs and confirm with your printer that you and they agree on how best to build the black that you expect.

If you can avoid these mistakes you'll be able to save yourself lots of time and money.
