What Is RIP ?

Raster Image Process takes the fonts, graphics, etc. that are contained within your digital file and tells the printer how it's supposed to be rendered as a series of pixels. RIP is used with everything from your home printer to large scale imagesetters.

There are a few different kinds of RIP's:

Post Script RIPS's
These allow users to print to multiple printers at the same time and allow users to print to different types of printers like UV flatbed printers, grand format, offset etc.

Non-PostScript RIP's
Are typically used for giclee printers that reproduce fine art and photographs.
